More information about the Environmental & Geo Engineering Discipline

Environmental Engineering is concerned with the study of clean technologies that have no or as little impact on the environment as possible. It analyses and develops new methods of waste management to minimize the negative effects of pollution on the environment. Another component of this field is the filtration technology development that aims at reducing the toxic emission in the air. This discipline focuses not only on the environment, but also on protecting the health of the employees of the industrial environment. Environmental Engineers protect the public health by applying engineering principles to the environment and contributing to the sustainable development.

Geoengineering is focuses in issues such as carbon dioxide reduction, global warming and solar radiation management, ocean fertilization, etc. It sets out to deliberately and systematically improve the environment on a large scale and enhance habitability. Applying engineering principles and methods, geoengineers work towards clean air, water and soil for the human society, but also for all living organisms and fight to remedy the pollution, degradation and destruction of natural habitats. Geoengineering can be regarded as Environmental Engineering with a broader scope and action.

Both fields tackle problems like waste management, impact assessment and mitigation, water treatment, air quality improvement. Graduates of this discipline have a good understanding of environmental systems and technologies and are dedicated to improving Earth.

  • Bachelor in Environment

Are you interested in Sustainable Water Technology? Check out the Sustainable Water Technology programme at Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Sciences!

  • Bachelor in Environmental Science for Sustainable Energy and Technology

The Environmental Science for Sustainable Energy and Technology (ESSET) programme is about environmental science with an international character. As a matter of fact you work together with students from all over the world. In our project based learning system you will study four years fully taught in English.

  • Bachelor in Environmental Science (Short Degree Programme)

Environmental and spatial issues are getting more important on a local, regional, national and global scale. The sustainable development is a constant concern in the development of all kinds of policies. Environmental quality and spatial quality are essential concepts to deal with from the perspective of a sustainable future.

  • Bachelor in Environmental Engineering

The approach of Environmental Engineering programme is multidiscipline. First, it educates engineers for designing, operating and managing sustainable and safe processes. Secondly, it provides skills to choose different types of advanced energy production technologies, to either replace or complete the fossil-based energy systems.

  • Bachelor in Liberal Arts and Sciences

For students who do not want to be limited to a single academic discipline. UCM offers 150 courses in almost all academic disciplines. The 3-year programme is entirely in English.

  • Bachelor in Petroleum Engineering

    University of Portsmouth

Petroleum engineers are involved in all the phases of finding (exploration), drilling and extracting the oil from the subsurface reservoirs, through to its transportation to the surface facilities and petroleum refinery, and the distribution. Due to the remote locations of many oil reserves (both onshore and offshore) and the respective oil processing plants, petroleum engineers travel extensively while working with the domestic and multinational oil companies operating all over the world. Petroleum engineers also earn the highest average starting salary amongst graduate engineers (2010 NACE, SPE survey).

  • Bachelor in Management of the Marine Environment & Sustainable Development

Skema Business School - Sophie Antipolis Campus

Life sciences are currently undergoing rapid development at a time when organisations, governments and companies are converting to sustainable development models. Their role for the future has never been so important.

  • Bachelor in Applied Geosciences

    Montanuniversitaet Leoben

  • Bachelor in Bachelor of Earth Sciences

Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC)

The subject areas of earth sciences provides general teaching in the fields of the sciences of the Earth, universe and the environment, centred on multi-disciplinary foundations acquired in the BGPC programme (biology, geology, physics, chemistry) of the integration cycle (first year of licence) at UPMC.

  • Bachelor in Engineering Geology and Geotechnics

    University of Portsmouth

The University of Portsmouth has been teaching engineering geology and geotechnics for over 40 years. We have the highest number of academic engineering geology staff members of any university in the UK and are the only university in the UK to offer this degree at undergraduate level. Employability is at the heart of this degree and we pride ourselves on the fact that our students are in great demand in the UK and overseas once they graduate.

  • Bachelor in Civil Engineering (DT004)

    Dublin Institute of Technology

This programme presents applicants with an opportunity to develop their mathematical and analytical skills to solve many of the problems encountered in the broader civil engineering industry.

  • Bachelor in Degree Programme in Environmental Engineering

    Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences

Would you like to become an environmental engineer understanding environmental economics and accounting, environmental management and corporate social responsibility? In Environmental Engineering Degree Programme students will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge relevant to today’s business environment. The students have a possibility to gain international experiences through a study period abroad, and also in Mikkeli through several visiting lecturers and students from the partner universities abroad.
