The Department of Film Design strives to educate students in all aspects of the film genre. Of particular note is the department’s hands-on approach, and students are encouraged to create their own films. They learn about the background of film, the various aspects of film making and current trends in the sector.
Students have the opportunity to gain expertise in a variety of media and communication areas by completing specific core courses and then selecting a specific concentration of courses to focus on, either i) Intercultural Communication Studies or ii) Writing for the Media.
Besides a wide variety of circus disciplines, attention is paid to clowning, vertical dance, break-dance, and in view of the current developments, mime, movement, performance and object work.
This program provides, through the perspective of the humanities, an interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding of European, particularly Central European and Czech society and culture, within an integrating Europe in the age of globalization. Courses in history, psychology, politics, law, economic thought, and sociology provide a general foundation for the understanding of humanities and culture today. Students will be prepared to adapt, communicate, work and succeed in a multinational and multicultural society. The program pays special attention to the idea of peaceful coexistence and encourages positive and tolerant approaches, considering this aspect to be an important component of the interdisciplinary profile of our students.
