This far-reaching programme has been designed to offer a comprehensive range of performance activities combined with opportunities to discover complementary new skills that will help you establish a successful career as a professional musician. One-to-one lessons focus on the development of your repertoire, technical skills and musical confidence. Strings, brass, wind and voice students have an additional allocation of time with a professional accompanist or coach. Group classes concentrate on presentation skills, orchestral or band repertoire, ensemble work and performance practice. There are a range of specialist classes for students of composition and creative music technology.
Professional work placements are an increasingly important feature of the course, helping you create useful employment networks and build your CV. The range of opportunities reflects the diversity of the music profession covering performance, studio work, events management, broadcasting, teaching and community outreach. There are also opportunities to study for three months at one of the college´s European
partner conservatoires.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testFor performers, entrance to the course is by audition. You will be expected to demonstrate musical ability equivalent to the standard of a Distinction at ABRSM Grade VIII.
For the creative disciplines, applicants will be required to attend an interview to discuss their previously submitted work.
Following success at audition or interview applicants will also be expected to achieve minimum entrance qualifications which may include ALevels, Scottish Highers, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate, Advanced GNVQ, AVCE or Advanced Diploma (Level 3).
For international students recognised equivalent qualifications are accepted.
You should also have passed ABRSM Grade V theory.
Candidates will also be considered who have no formal qualifications but can demonstrate an exceptional level of ability.
