This study programme gives you a solid background for a future career in biology, e.g. within the fields of conservation, sustainable development, marine resources and molecular biology.
You will take part in traditional lectures and laboratory work within topics like ecology, genetics, evolution, cell biology, biodiversity, chemistry etc. Moreover, you will participate in fieldwork on a regular basis in addition to some spectacular excursions to study e.g. sea eagles, sperm whales, Atlantic puffins and seals. Fieldwork in marine ecology at the Svalbard Island (in the Barents Sea) is compulsory the second or third year.
You may specialize in marine ecology or molecular biology.
The study programme comprises traditional lectures, laboratory work, discussion groups and field trips. You may specialize in marine ecology or molecular biology. During your studies you may include 15 weeks of work experience at a Norwegian or foreign company.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
