In the international Bachelor´s profile, special attention is paid to different aspects of global health, such as emerging diseases, different health-care systems and nutrition and health. During the Bachelor´s phase all students will have to learn Dutch to facilitate communication with patients.

Year 1Year B1: The medical process - basic concepts

The student is introduced to the principles of G2010: the development of competences necessary to function as the kind of physician the student wants to become, the extramural differentiation profile and the medical process are explained in more detail.

This year focuses on the transfer of the basic concepts of medicine. Basic concepts refer to the knowledge of medical biological concepts the student needs to master to gain insight into clinical problems. The student gains an insight into the structures and processes defining sickness and health from a molecular to a social and from an individual to a collective level.

In addition to classes, students will work in small groups: tutor groups in which assignments related to the patient problems are worked out, mentor groups in which scientific science education takes place and coaching groups in which the students orient to their future conduct of their profession and their own functioning as a professional in relation to the patient and the health care system.

Once the student has fulfilled all requirements, he has passed his first-year examination.

* Block 1.1 The Medical Process (11 ECTS)
* Block 1.2 Fundaments of Medicine (11 ECTS)
* Block 1.3 Working on Health (11 ECTS)

Year 2Years B2: Clinical concepts

This year (as well as the third year B3) deals with clinical subjects are treated based on the problem list of the Blueprint 2001, which are constantly focusing on the extent of the problems, the various levels (from molecule via organ to person) and the consequences for patient and society.

Year 2 of the Professional Orientation training unit will focus on the intramural (contemplative and surgical) differentiation profiles. The short-term orientation internships and the working out of corresponding assignments are aimed at helping the student make a well-founded choice for a further realisation of the Master programme and, if possible, the future practice of their profession.
