The BA (Hons) Economics for Business is designed to ensure you have the ability to apply economic theory in a business context. It provides you with the skills and capabilities needed to analyse business activity if you choose to enter a career in economics. It will also ensure that you understand business and economic developments at local, national and global level which will open up the scope of your career opportunities.
You have the option of taking a one year work placement to apply your learning and gather valuable experience. Many of our graduates gain employment as a direct result of their placement.

You will also select three elective modules.
Placement
There is an opportunity for you to take a 12 month paid work placement between the second and third year of these courses. This can be undertaken in a large range of organisations including a number of blue chip organisations in the public and private sector as well as small to medium sized enterprises. You can also arrange summer internships with some organisations. We have our own Placements Office who are dedicated to making sure that you find a placement which is right for you. Students from these courses have worked in organisations such as Panasonic, Unilever, IBM, John Lewis and Audi to name a few. Should you want to source a placement yourself you have the flexibility of making your own arrangements subject to approval from the Placements Office.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testUCAS Points: 220 UCAS tariff points, 160 points must be obtained from at least 2 GCE A Levels or equivalent.
Required GCSEs: English Language and Maths (grade C or above) or equivalent.
International Baccalaureate: 24 points
IELTS: 6.0 or equivalent (for students whose first language is not English).
Mature and other non-standard applicants with few formal qualifications but appropriate experience may also be considered. This will be assessed on an individual basis.
