Biotechnology is used to produce new drugs at the cutting edge of medical research, to develop new diagnostic systems for human and animal health and to improve food production. As a student, you will focus on these areas of application. The study of biotechnology involves disciplines including genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology. Your theoretical studies will be reinforced with practical laboratory sessions, visits to industrial firms, and ideally a placement in a biotech company.
Biotechnology is taken as a Single Honours Bachelor of Science degree.
In First Year, students take Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one of Computer Science, Experimental Physics, or Mathematical Physics. In Second Year, students take Biotechnology, Chemistry, and one of Experimental Physics, Mathematics, or Mathematical Physics. In Third Year, students take Biotechnology and Chemistry. In Fourth Year, students take Biotechnology and should ideally complete a three-month placement in a biotechnology company.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Applicants must have an IELTS score of 6, if not they may take our International Foundation Course. Minimum English language requirement for the IFC is IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.
