Students may choose one of the following Single Honours options for Second and Third year:
* Single Honours Economics+
* Single Honours Geography++
* Single Honours Mathematical Studies
* Single Honours Mathematical Physics
* Single Honours Psychology
Second and Third Year: Psychology is taken as a single subject. There are admission quotas to Psychology in Second Year - for more information please visit
Single Honours Economics, Mathematical Physics, Psychology students take these subjects only in second and third year. Single Honours Geography students take this subject predominantly in second and third year. Single Honours Mathematical Studies students take Mathematical Studies and one other subject in second year and Mathematical Studies only in third year.
+ Qualifying mark required for entry to Single Honours Economics is normally 60%.
++ A high mark in first year is required.

IELTS
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Applicants must have completed a recognised High School Leaving Examination which is considered equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate.

Transcript or other academic record such as high-school certificate or diploma. Copies of the original will be accepted, however, NUI Maynooth may request to see the original.
A letter of recommendation from a former or current Professor.
Applicants must have an IELTS score of 6, if not they may take our International
Foundation Course. Minimum English language requirement for the IFC is IELTS 4.5 or equivalent.
