This programme is run jointly by the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT Kevin Street) and the University of Dublin (Trinity College). The programme is designed to provide an integrated training in the science of nutrition and dietetics and its application to human health and wellbeing both at the individual and community level. It includes six months placement-based studies and also a period of practical catering administration and management. Students are responsible for their own upkeep during these training periods since they are unpaid.
Students may be required to undergo Garda vetting before being allowed to register.
Year One
Mathematics/Information Technology; Physics; Chemistry; Biology/Physiology; Food Studies/Food Science; Nutrition; Dietetics; Language; Communications; Catering Placement.
Year Two
Biochemistry/Clinical Chemistry; Physiology/Immunology; Nutrition; Dietetics; Microbiology; Biostatistics/Information Technology/Research Methodology; Communications; Language (optional); Behavioural Science.
Year Three
Biostatistics/Information; Technology/Research Methodology; Medicine; Medical Sciences; Food Science/Food Studies; Nutrition; Dietetics; Communications/ Behavioural Science/Management.
Year Four
Placement-based studies, 6 months. (Clinical Nutrition/Dietetics; Public Health Nutrition/Community Dietetics; Nutrition; Industry). Professional studies.
Year Five
Research Project-3 months.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
