The buildings in which we live and work are responsible for about half our energy use. This energy use contributes to the CO2 [greenhouse gas] emissions, which affect our environment. Building Services Engineers together with architects can design environmentally-friendly buildings. Buildings Services Engineers are responsible for the design and installation of the many mechancial and electrical systems that make our buildings work. These systems include heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, fire protection, power, lighting and data communciation systems.
Creating energy efficient and environmentally friendly buildings that will last for many years makes for a rewarding career.
