Location of Dublin Institute of Technology

The programme requires an analytical ability to understand and solve technical problems relating to the building services engineering industry. Mechanical and electrical building services such as heating, air-conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, fire protection, water supply, drainage, lighting, power, data communications are installed in buildings to ensure a comfortable and safe internal environment.

Examination and other requirements

(a) Students take the Institute´s examinations at the end of each semester.

(b) Students also complete assignments and practical laboratory work during the semesters.


Contents

Year One

Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Introduction to Building Services Engineering, Computing & Engineering Graphics, Built Environment, Fabrication Technology and Engineering Communications.

Year Two

Engineering Mathematics, Applied Energy Systems, Applied Electrical Technology Controls & Instrumentation, Management Studies, Design of Heating, Ventilation, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems together with Water Supply, Drainage, Acoustics and Projects.

Year Three

Engineering Mathematics, Applied Energy Systems, Electrical Distribution & Control Systems, Engineering Management, Design of HVAC and Utility Services together with Industrial Services and a major Project.

In all years of the programme there is a strong emphasis on low energy solutions.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
