This programme provides an ideal opportunity for students who already hold a certificate award e.g. (Higher Certificate in Electronic and Computer Systems) in this area to obtain an ordinary degree. The programme has a strong systems perspective, which is intended to develop the student´s knowledge and technical abilities in the areas of Computer and Communications Engineering, and Industrial Electronics Systems. It is divided into four core programmes and four optional modules.
Applicants should have a merit or distinction in their Certificate award from a recognised institute or a qualification that is deemed by Dublin Institute of Technology to be an equivalent qualification. This programme is also offered on a part-time basis (three evenings per week) over a two-year period of study. (See programme DT079 on our website).
Year One
The programme is centred on four core programmes namely:
* Microprocessors & Embedded Systems;
* Software Development;
* Mathematics;
* Business Studies.
All students also undertake a technical project.
Students are required to study two of the following optional modules:
* Instrumentation & Automatic Test Systems;
* Music Technology;
* Communication Networks;
* Analogue & Digital Communications.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
