Kairos Communications, a leading independent television and radio production company, will deliver part of the course. You will gain practical experience in a professional studio environment, learning to master computing and programming, cameras and sound recording equipment, and web design and interactive authoring. You will also study the social, cultural, and human implications of new media and the computer science that underly them.
As the creation of multimedia content is often collaborative, you will be encouraged to work on practical projects in groups, developing team-building and networking skills. You will develop your individual creativity, rooted in theoretical reflection and a solid skills base.
Course Structure
As a Single Honours BA degree, Multimedia is taken with one other subject in First Year. Students take Multimedia only in Second and Third Year. Students who have not taken higher-level Mathematics are recommended to choose Mathematical Studies as their other subject in First Year.
Students who do not wish to continue with the BA Multimedia after First Year may transfer to MH101, continuing with Computer Science and their other Arts subject. (This is only possible for students who have not chosen Biology, Law or Physics with Astronomy in First Year).
Students who opt to spend a year studying abroad are awarded a BA (International) degree.
