Law is a challenging and highly respected field. As a student, you will explore the legal relationships that pervade our society, affecting individuals, families, corporations and the State. You will acquire a thorough grounding in the fundamental areas of legal study, including Irish domestic law, the Irish legal system and European law.
The study of Law develops your facility for argument and reasoning, for clear thinking and for the analysis of complicated ideas. You will also gain the ability to express complex issues clearly in oral and written forms. Knowledge of Law is also a useful compliment to other areas of study, giving an added insight into economics, history and politics, among other areas.
You will acquire a thorough grounding in the fundamental areas of legal study, including Irish domestic law, the Irish legal system and European law.
As a Double Honours Bachelor of Civil Law degree, Law is taken with two other subjects in First Year, and with one other subject in Second Year and Third Year.
Note: Students have the option of taking Politics as one of their subjects with Law in place of English or Mathematical Studies.
Students who opt to spend a year studying abroad are awarded a BA (International) degree.
