What makes one brand better than another? How do successful designers distinguish their products from others that use similar technology? Product Design is at the heart of successful product innovation and is increasingly valued by creative and entrepreneurial businesses.
As a student of Product Design, you will learn to harness your creative, artistic, and problem-solving skills. You will also gain a relevant understanding of technology and materials, and a sensitive awareness of human needs and behaviour through user centred design. You will learn to combine these abilities to create products that satisfy, even delight, users. You will acquire an understanding of Product Design from both an engineering and a marketing point of view.
The course is highly practical, with an emphasis on project-based learning, workshops, laboratory sessions, and group work. A six-month, full-time, paid work experience placement in a relevant employment setting will ensure that knowledge gained through coursework is consolidated into real-life experience. Work experience also provides an opportunity to meet and impress potential future employers.
As aSingle HonoursBachelor of Science in Product Design (Marketing and Innovation) degree,a range of technology, science, marketing and design subjects are taken in all years.
