Internationally Oriented Studies (IOS) is a study program for international and German students. The IOS program offers the opportunity to receive an excellent engineering education, make international contacts, learn German and explore the possibilities of studying abroad.

The degree course in Physical Engineering gives students a thorough grounding in physics and technology, accompanied by current topics from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and electronics, data processing, and laser technology, including micro and nano technology. Students are offered an interdisciplinary education to ensure that modern engineers are able to deal with the complex problems which often face them in their careers. This wide-based training enables our engineers to adapt to new challenges in the workplace and ensures that they are well-equipped to deal with difficult engineering challenges due to their understanding of physics and their multi-faceted abilities. Industry is also aware of the fact that these engineers can be incorporated into many different departments due to their wide-ranging, flexible knowledge base.

The broad scientific and technical training given to students of the Bachelor of Physical Engineering program enables graduates to choose from a wide range of possible career paths, the importance of which will continue to grow in the future. Depending on the specialist area chosen and personal interests and preferences, engineers find employment in many different branches of industry.

The following list gives a few examples:

o Automotive industry
o Semiconductor industry
o Optical industry, laser technology
o Mechanical and plant engineering
o Medical technology

Above all, career opportunities present themselves wherever technical problems must be solved systematically, using interdisciplinary skills based on scientific expertise.

Internationally Oriented Studies (IOS) is a study program for international and German students. The IOS program offers the opportunity to receive an excellent engineering education, make international contacts, learn German and explore the possibilities of studying abroad.

A great advantage for international students is that the first two semesters of the Bachelor's program are taught in English! During this period, students attend intensive German language lessons to prepare for the German language examination DSH 1. Bilingual education plus innovative degree programs give our students the best of both worlds - an excellent command of cutting edge technology and exceptional communication skills.

Internationally Oriented Studies (IOS) is a study program for international and German students. The IOS program offers the opportunity to receive an excellent engineering education, make international contacts, learn German and explore the possibilities of studying abroad.

All lectures are given in English during the first two semesters. In this way, students develop proficiency in this, the most important language in the world, which will prove a great advantage for students choosing a career abroad.

The Bachelor of Physical Engineering provides students with a solid scientific basis to their studies, especially as represented in the specialist areas, enabling them to employ scientific and engineering methods to analyse technical procedures, and develop practical solutions while taking into consideration related areas outside the specific field of study. During the program, students acquire a wide-ranging, integrated knowledge and understanding of the scientific and technical fundamentals of applied chemistry. They have at their disposal a critical understanding of the basic theories, principles and methods dealt with during their studies, and are in a position to independently broaden this knowledge.

This knowledge and understanding is in keeping with the current research in the specialist areas. Students are capable of applying this in their jobs or careers to develop solutions and reasoned arguments in their specialist area.

Openings for young engineers are typically found in the following areas:

o Research and development
o Project development and planning
o Construction and manufacturing
o Operations and maintenance
o Installations and start-up operations
o Quality control and marketing
o Documenation and administration
o Organization
o Education and training.

Areas of employment for graduates of the Bachelor of Physical Engineering remain very varied. Thanks to the solid educational basis gained during the program, in keeping with the demands of industry, graduates can rapidly adapt to and work in different areas of specialisation. As a result, challenging, interesting areas of employment are opened up to graduates, which due to ever-changing demands, call for a high level of technical skills.

In industry, engineers are greatly sought-after in the areas of research, development, production, application technology, and quality control, as well as in testing facilities, customer service, and start-up operations. In particular, the main areas of focus of the program pertain directly to these careers, as students are able to study in newly-developing and technically extremely demanding areas of engineering. For this reason, our graduates are welcomed both in industry and in the public sector.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Physical Engineering are always well-placed in the job market, as they are able to gain a broad fundamental knowledge of their subject during the program and are thus in a position to keep pace with the rapidly changing demands of modern technology.

Moreover, students gain the ability to collect and interpret data and to infer scientifically-based judgements from it, as well as to implement appropriate solutions which take into account social, scientific and ethical issues and independently to construct continuous learning processes. They learn how to formulate and defend opinions and solutions with reference to their specific field, and to exchange information, ideas, problems and solutions with experts and lay people, and work responsibility in a team.

These wide-ranging skills ensure flexibility with regard to career openings and form the ideal basis for the indisputable necessity of life-long learning skills in modern professional life. The lecture courses in the first two semesters are given in English. This enables students to gain important language skills in this, the most important language in the world, which will help to qualify students for an international engineering career.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
