You will follow a common core programme of first year modules which aims to build a firm and broad foundation for further study:

* elements of economics


* economic methods


* the world economy.

In your second and third year you will take options from a wide range of modules and can specialise as your interests develop. You also have the opportunity to extend your course to four years by taking year three as an industrial placement or an international exchange.

You take compulsory modules in French and spend your third year at a university in Aix-en-Provence through the SOCRATES/ERASMUS programme while continuing to study Economics.

In year one, in addition to the economics core modules, you take a further two core modules covering French, and the language, power and making of the French nation.

In year two, you study four core modules covering French, macro and microeconomics and economic data analysis, and choose two further modules from a selection that includes business competition, corporate finance, economics of social policy, European economics, and intermediate methods for economics and finance.

In year four, you study one core module in French; choose a further three modules from a selection that includes applied econometrics, development economics, history of economic thought, industrial organisation, labour economics, international economics, monetary economics, environmental economics and policy, public economics, advanced macro and micro economic theory, security investment analysis, financial theory and corporate policy; and produce a dissertation (double module).

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

* You will not need A-Level Economics.
* You will need at least a grade B in AS Level Mathematics if you are not doing A- Level Maths.
* You will normally be required to have A* grades in GCSE Mathematics and English Language, though some flexibility will be exercised in implementing this condition.
* We do not accept A-Level General Studies.
* You will need at least Grade A in A-Level French.
* International students without English A-level or equivalent, or those whose medium of instruction is not in English, will need an IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no element scoring less than 6.
