The BA Business Finance degree allows in-depth study of critical concepts in finance, economics and business, focusing on issues of business finance in both a domestic and international setting. There is a marked emphasis on quantitative techniques and you will acquire and develop skills in key qualitative and quantitative research methods. The degree will help you understand the fundamental principles and processes of business finance.
In year one, you will study compulsory modules that introduce economics, finance, financial accounting, management and quantitative methods, and one optional module.In year two, you study five core modules looking at corporate finance, macro and micro economics, financial econometrics, financial markets and risk management, and choose one module from a selection covering marketing, organisational behaviour, operations management, management accounting, corporate financial reporting and taxation, information systems, and auditing and accounting.In year three, you study two core modules exploring financial theory and corporate policy, and security investment analysis; choose two modules from a large selection covering, for example, financial econometrics, international and multinational finance, financial engineering, strategy and international business, marketing research and behavioural finance; and produce a dissertation (double module).You also have the opportunity to extend your course to four years by taking year three as an industrial placement or an international exchange.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Take test* GCE and VCE Awards: you will normally have obtained at least ABB at A-level or its equivalent in other qualifications (not including General Studies). The typical offer is ABB. * There are no subject-specific requirements at A-level, but we do not accept General Studies
* All applicants are considered on their merits and offers are made in the context of each individual's own circumstances. Applicants offering a combination of A-levels, AS-levels and vocational A-levels will be made individually tailored offers as appropriate
* GCSE: if you have not studied mathematics beyond GCSE (or its equivalent) we require you to have achieved at least a grade B at GCSE. Additionally, you must be prepared to develop your mathematical skills and knowledge
* International Baccalaureate: we welcome applications from International Baccalaureate students. Our typical minimum offer is 34 points (Maths SL5 or HL4).
* Scottish Highers: we welcome applications from students with Scottish qualifications and typically look for a minimum of AABBB or ABB from Advanced Highers.
* Other qualifications: we welcome students with other qualifications.
* If English is not your native language, you will need at least IELTS 6.5, with no element below 6.0 (or equivalent in other recognised language qualifications).
