Starting in the Winter Semester 2007/2008 the Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences lead to the expansion of its study programs by offering a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering. The 6th semester is designed as a practical term.
With the successful completion of the Bachelor examination, students are awarded the degree "Bachelor of Engineering" (Acronym:" B. Eng.").
Study Design
The offer of a Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering with the Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) is characterized by the strong labor market prospects of graduates. Conceptually, the study provides a valuable combination of knowledge-and technology-intensive science with practice-business management and legal know-how as well as key personal skills.
Just over half the subjects in these studies offer content in fields of traditional engineering disciplines, such as mechanical engineering and mechatronics, electronics and information technology, civil engineering and business information systems. This offer is extended with practical content in technical services, marketing and distribution (Industrial Management). This generalistic training is completed by key business offerings, such as controlling and business law. The curriculum of the Bachelor degree Industrial Engineering will be deepened by the subjects in the field of business, insurance and inheritance.
A very strong practical orientation of the curriculum and the inclusion of "soft skills" is seen as an additional strength of this program and reflects the requirements of enterprises.
Vocational
The Vocation of the industrial engineer is determined by the link of technical, economic and social problems. This requires a broad technical understanding of structures and processes to be understood in their entirety. The development of business ideas and customer requirements to commercially usable and actionable business and products are part of the profile of industrial engineers as well as the techniques of management and key qualifications for the responsible management of operations and dealing with shareholders.
The training of the industrial engineer is a broad cross-section of qualification as a generalist; whereas, the aim of the course is to provide technical, methodological and social skills, make students able to apply scientific knowledge and methods and to act responsibly in companies and in society in the professional industrial engineering field. The study of Industrial Engineering is to be trained in addition to the acquisition of specific expertise, the ability to capture larger contexts, to respond flexibly and to lead people. Decision making, communication skills and cooperation should be developed.

Career opportunities for industrial engineers and their range of application fields are very large. The industrial engineer understands both languages and ways of thinking, both for business managers and engineers and is ideal as a translator, an integrator and facilitator.

Course Sequence
The study of B.Sc. Engineering in Deggendorf includes 7 semesters, whereas the 6th semester is conducted as a practical semester.
This program is also a composite of study as part of the dual degree. Particularly motivated students can thus be accompanied by a vocational studies with a company and obtain, in addition to the academic Bachelor's degree, a vocational qualification.
