Location of Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences

More and more devices and systems in our environment, for example cars, airplanes, and medical devices, as well as washing machines and vending machines, are controlled by integrated computer systems. These computer systems are known in the industry as embedded systems.
Embedded systems are generally adapted to special tasks; whereas, problems such as low costs, low space, energy and memory consumption, significant temperature variations, strong vibrations and electromagnetic interference radiation have to be considered.
Typical embedded systems often have no hard drive, DVD drive or monitor and the memory of a few KB to a few megabytes.

In order to work successfully in this area, one needs skills in technical computer science and electrical engineering.

The name Infotronik is an invented word and deals with computer science and electrical engineering. It illustrates the symbiosis of both disciplines. Electrical knowledge is needed for the development of the electronic circuit, the connection of the sensor (e.g. temperature sensors) and actuators (e.g. motors) to the computer. In computer science, computer programming is taught.

Study objective, history, financial statements

The Bachelor's degree in applied computer science / Infotronik comprises seven semesters, including a practical term. It contains two elective courses (computer science and electrical engineering) in which students, according to their tastes, can improve their knowledge in automotive electronics, computer technology or in intelligent measurement systems, for example. The practical semester, one semester and the bachelor thesis can be completed abroad.
With the successful completion of the audit and the thesis, the degree Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng is. Degrees) is awarded.

Activity

Today, the activity fields are very wide-ranging and please take into account that the ever-widening spread of embedded systems is continuing to grow. Graduates can work in the following areas:

Automotive Electronics
Development of hardware and software and the production of so-called electronic control units.

Industrial PCs
Hardware and software development and the manufacturing of industrial PCs, also embedded Mini-PC modules, or so-called computer-on-Modules as in tickets or gaming machines and medical equipment.

Intelligent Measurement
Hardware and software development and the production of intelligent measurement systems.

More industries include:
* Consumer electronics / multimedia systems
* Precision engineering machinery and equipment
* Sensors, meters
* Biomedical engineering
* Electrical industry, household appliances
* Aeronautics and astronautics
