Hardly a day goes by without new, better and healthier foods appearing in the shops. No-one can go without food, consumers´ demands are always developing - and the authorities are always making new demands. No wonder `quality´ and `innovation´ are the most important words in the food sector - and no wonder it´s vital to stay up to date!

As a food technologist, you´d see consumers in terms of market, marketing, product, quality, management and business administration. A fantastic challenge for creative, technically-minded `foodies´. You´d deepen your knowledge of chemistry and economics - but you´d also become absorbed in the fascinating world of nutrition, trends, flavour, trade and health.

Could you become part of this dynamic and international world? Do you enjoy technological innovation? Are you determined to maintain your personal development, but unable to choose between technology, management and food-marketing? No problem: as a Bachelor in Food Technology you´d be able to blend them all!

This programme has a long history and an excellent reputation, with our international network proving invaluable to students seeking placements and a project for their finals phase. The benefits continue when you graduate. There´s no shortage of opportunities in the food sector - consumers are becoming ever more demanding, and many foods are now luxury products, combining convenience and wholesomeness. With so many producers, there are plenty of jobs for people whose knowledge of marketing and technology span the sector´s wide range of specialities.

Our graduates qualify for all sorts of positions - as project managers, account managers, product developers, commercial technologists and customer-service chiefs. Which is hardly surprising - your studies will have prepared you for expertise in all of them.

Specialisations

Food Technology (4 years Bachelor, 2 years Final Phase Bachelor)

You will be following objective specific courses, doing practical periods and preparing an exciting graduation assignment. In the third or fourth year you will make a choice out of many available minors. A minor is actually a short course of your own choice. It can be specialistic or broad, in which case it can add to your interests and talents. The programme is competency based: each theoretical subject supports workgroup situations in which students tackle practical problems and explore workable solutions. This means that you will be active from day one, learning to work independently as you collaborate with others. The programme culminates in practical placements and a thesis project conducted in an international setting.
