Your studies in German will give you the opportunity to study German literature, culture, history and linguistics. You will develop a solid grounding in German language, proficient enough in German to live and work effectively in a German-speaking environment.
In year one the credit weighting of these subjects is 60/60. In subsequent years this can be amended to 80/40 focusing on either subject.
Core German language courses at all levels of study are complemented by a variety of other subject areas, and by a period spent in a German-speaking country. We have specialists in an unusually wide range of German-related subjects, so that you can focus on subjects that really appeal to you in your final year of study.
