This programme combines the study of society, culture and social interaction, based in Social Anthropology, with the study of Linguistics.
BA (Hons) Linguistics & Social Anthropology is a three year joint degree taught across two subject areas. The Department of Social Anthropology has pioneered the use of anthropological analysis and research 'at home' in Western societies
Department of Linguistics and English Language has an enviable international research reputation in terms of the breadth of coverage across the world's languages and the spectrum of contemporary ideas about language.

A Levels: BBB inc a Modern Language OR English Language + GCSE Grade B in a Modern language
IB: 32 points including a Modern Foreign Language grade 6 at higher level OR
English Language grade 6 at higher level. (If a modern foreign language has not been studied at higher level then either a GCSE or a language at grade 5 standard level will be required)
