BA (Hons) German and Spanish gives you a comprehensive grounding in German language, literature, culture, history and linguistics. It enables you to become proficient enough in German to live and work effectively in a German-speaking environment.
The course will also give you a thorough grounding in the language and culture of the Spanish speaking world.
Core German language courses at all levels of study are complemented by a variety of other subject areas, and by a period spent in a German-speaking country. We have specialists in an unusually wide range of German-related subjects, so that you can focus on subjects that really appeal to you in your final year of study.
This is a four year course with part of your third year being spent abroad under approved conditions in a country where Spanish is spoken. The course immerses you in Spanish language and Hispanic culture. It also provides in-depth knowledge on Latin America and the opportunity to learn Catalan.
The degree is awarded as a single class, based on the marks achieved in both languages.
