The Bachelor Program in Business Economics at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is an internationally recognized 3-year degree program which provides you with the skills and the knowledge needed for a career in international business or for further study at the graduate level.

The International Bachelor program for Business Economics is a unique course of studies offered to both German and international students. It is designed to meet tomorrow`s needs for highly educated graduates who apply their excellent understanding of economics to challenges in a multilingual environment.

The program allows you to study in an international environment with small class sizes and lectures held by German and international professors. The first two years are taught entirely in English and will familiarize you with subjects relevant to both business studies and economics. In your final year, you may then choose from a broad range of advanced courses from the English and German curriculum.

Contents

The program is mostly taught in English and takes 6 semesters to complete. The first four semesters - which are completely in English - provide an overview of the basic theories and methods of business management and economics, including methods of quantitative analysis such as statistics and econometrics. The remaining two semesters give room for specialization according the students´ preferences. At this level, students are expected to take courses both in English and German. In order to enable them to do this, all non-German speakers take mandatory German courses during the first four semesters. All students conclude their studies by writing a bachelor thesis on a subject of their choice during their final semester.

The study program is based on the academic standards of the European Community. Courses are valued according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), grading is according to the standard grading scheme from A (best) to D (least passing grade) or F (failed). This ensures credits obtained in Halle are transferable to other European universities.

Making internationalization go one step further, we recommend you to spend a semester or two abroad at another university. You can either find your own university or choose from our partner universities in France, Spain, Korea, India and other countries. The best time for such a semester abroad is the fifth semester of your course of studies. The best time for such a semester abroad is the fifth semester of your course of studies.

Internships
German universities have two big semester breaks: from mid-July through mid-October (after the summer semester) and from mid February through mid-April (after the winter semester). We recommend that you use at least one of these semester breaks for an internship with a company either in Germany or in another country. Our university offers a placement service to help students find an internship with businesses from the region. In and around Halle there are many large companies such as BMW, Porsche, Dell or DHL as well as the major consulting and auditing firms. If you wish, you can write your bachelor thesis about your practical work experience with one of these companies.

IELTS

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
