The Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology Degree Programme prepares students for careers in information technology, healthcare, wellness and infrastructure and environmental monitoring industries.
Information technology curriculum gives students the basic knowledge of the requirements of project leadership, ICT services, sensors, data networks, servers and application software in ICT companies. There is an emphasis on software engineering, computer networks and embedded systems with wireless sensor networks.
Projects are included in studies with companies. An example of these projects is the Lange project where students develop wireless EEG-band for hospitals. Students can go to the practical training to top class places like CERN in France or FERMILAB in USA. The studying atmosphere is very international because most of the students come abroad from variety of countries.
Programme Options
The courses of this curriculum concentrate on software engineering in the areas of information technology, wellness, healthcare and environmental and infrastructure monitoring applications.
The student learns to develop WEB or mobile applications, to use sensors, networks, servers and database. The embedded system theme has weight on design, programming and applications. The wireless transmission and sensors are in an essential role in these applications.
Elective courses can be selected as early as the first study year. Studies abroad in a corresponding university or college also offer a good alternative. The industrial placement internship required for the completion of the programme is 6 months. Part of this is carried out during study semesters. The rest of the placement can be completed during summer breaks. The students can have part of the internship and/or their final project abroad. Completion of the programme requires a final project with a written report from the subject area the student has specialised in during advanced specialised studies.
From Studying to Work Life
Graduating engineers are positioned in system design, programming, and marketing tasks in companies. Employers of graduating engineers are industrial companies, design offices, firms specialized in software engineering, firms in the field of applications in information technology, healthcare and environmental monitoring and trading companies of this field.
These studies give broad skills of making applications within wireless, embedded, mobile or web-programming fields. Graduated students have the ability to end to end solutions in the areas of healthcare, wellness and infrastructure and environment monitoring ICT solutions.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
