The Journalism and Communications Program is designed to provide the students:
1. education in political, economic and social disciplines and in humanities, which will establish a foundation for their understanding of political, social and cultural processess in the globalizing conditions of our times;
2. specialized education, emphasizing news literacy for understanding media, and basic reporting and publicity skills with an emphasis on specialisations in domestic and foreign policy, economic, political issues and culture;
3. special emphasis on a variety of writing/communication skills including basic reporting, business reporting, features, and in-depth investigative reporting, as well as public speaking, moderating and intercultural communication;
4. qualification for work in both the traditional and new digitalized media within an on-line working environment, including electronic editing systems, web page development and digital photography, video editing and production, and other new media tools.
5. internship as a practical experience in a real working environment in the journalism and communications sphere.
The Journalism and Communications Program develops:
a. logical, analytical, critical and creative thinking;
b. speaking and writing skills in English;
c. skills to search for information, assess their reliability and to work with them;
d. journalistic and civic responsibility, ethics, and knowledge of legal aspects of the journalistic and mass communications practice.
The Journalism and Communications Program will prepare its graduates for work in both the traditional press and the electronic English language media, for radio and TV programming, and in the wider area of marketing and public relations. The students will be well qualified to work in the government including the embassies and international organizations (public affairs), as well as in public administration, the private sector, and in the non-profit NGO sector.
