The Netherlands is the second largest exporter of agrarian products in the world even though the country covers no more than 0.008% of the globe's surface. How can this be? The secret lies in the industry’s progressive technology, its efficiency and its innovativeness. Horticulture & Business Management lets you in on these secrets of the Dutch horticultural industry.
HAS Den Bosch just built a brand-new 2 hectare university garden where you can find a large collection of plants, flowers, trees, shrubs and other sorts of vegetation. HAS Den Bosch has its own greenhouses (1500 m2) and eight high-tech climate chambers, called the Centre of Growing Concepts.
The Centre for Growing Concepts is a top-of-the-arts research facility where students of HAS Den Bosch can study the latest technology in the field of plant production and (multilayer) cultivation. In the climate cells you can research the various factors that influence plant growth, such as light intensity, light colour, temperature, C02 content and humidity. The climate cells are equipped with the latest LED modules from Philips Lighting.
Successful completion of the course leads to a Bachelor degree in Horticulture and Arable Farming, with a specialisation in Business Management.
The horticultural industry in the Netherlands is in desperate need for highly-skilled staff and therefore employment prospects for graduates are better than ever.
Upon graduation students are well-trained professionals who are able to work in an international team and address projects in a systematic and practice-oriented manner.
Employment possibilities for graduates can be, for example, positions as a manager in a production company, consultant, product manager, export manager or researcher.
