The main aim of the bachelor programme is to provide academic and professional education in the field of geodesy, surveying and cartography, to acquire special software, as well as to prepare students for further studies in the master programme and give an insight into practical application of acquired knowledge.
Geomatics is the fastest-growing branch of engineering that is present in our daily activities. It is the science and technology of gathering, analyzing, interpreting and using geographic information. The specialist in geometrics normally work in construction industry and provide the technical expertise in understanding how the site geology will interact with and effect a proposed development. The specialists in geomatics can help clients or potential employees address problems and opportunities in such various fields as the environment, land management and reform, development planning, infrastructure management, natural resource monitoring, coastal zone management, mapping, etc. In essence, the specialists in geomatics normally work in road and building development, offshore oil, gas platform, mine development and digital mapping.
Contents
Throughout the bachelor study programme the students are taught how new geodetic instruments and special software is applied in practice. Students can develop basic understanding of surveying methods. Some of the compulsory and specialized subjects of the curriculum are as follows*:
