IBMS (International Business & Management Studies) of Saxion offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), which is widely recognized as the premier Bachelors´ Degree in Business Administration. It provides grounding in all subjects relevant to running a business: broadening the business knowledge and skills of the graduate. The qualification BBA is becoming a necessity for those who wish to effectively develop a career as a manager in business. It is also a good stepping-stone for a follow-up in studying the Master of Business Administration (MBA).

As such, the emphasis is moving from technical skills and business theory to working in a multi-cultural and diverse business environment. Saxion University of Applied Sciences offers this fulltime BBA course in close co-operation with industry and therefore it is highly practical oriented.

Aim of the programme

The IBMS programme is a practical course. Cases and assignments are mainly derived from business live. Students work out problems offered by business sponsors. In addition the courses have been developed in close co-operation with representatives from a wide range of business domains. IBMS offers students a lot of opportunities to familiarize with themselves on the future working field by organizing excursions and guest lectures. Students work in an intercultural setting; IBMS has over 20 nationalities from all over the world.

IBMS combines theory (administrative organization, accounting and finance, international marketing, supply chain management, information management) with personal development like practical communication and computer skills, teambuilding sessions and internships. Students are guided by a system of close tutoring, every student is assigned a personal mentor.

Career prospects

With the BBA degree students are able to operate in an international setting as a product manager, export manager, information auditor, purchaser, channel manager or even business developer all over the world. Of course it is also possible to start an own business or participate in family business with this degree.

Contents

Each semester of the IBMS is thematic which means that students concentrate entirely on one business subject. There is one central project, which is assessed at the end of the semester. All of the learning activities (groupwise or individual, internal or external) contribute to this central project.

Some subjects are assessed as well. The goals of the exams are dual: they are developed to prepare students for the project but they also test individual knowledge and skills.

The first propedeutic year is a year for orientation and (self) selection. Students will also learn how to deal with the intercultural setting, how to co-operate and how to plan their study. To that excursions and a team building session will be organised. IBMS aims to train independent and competent students who are creative in problem solving, committed, a team player, co-operative, aware of intercultural processes and ethical.
