While some of the world´s forests and nature areas adjoin cities whose residents put them to intensive use, others lie deep in inaccessible areas such as the Amazon, and are barely disturbed.

Worldwide, all such areas face a variety of problems, such as urbanisation, climate change, economic crisis and the depletion of natural resources. The deforestation caused by climate change calls for sustainable forest management and the re-establishment of nature areas. Economic crisis calls for solutions that are sustainable not just economically, but also environmentally. All are a challenge for a Forest and Nature Manager.

Our programme in Forestry and Nature Management will set you on the road to expertise in the field - someone who´s enterprising and focused on sustainability. As well as deepening your knowledge of biology, geography and economics, you´ll get to grips not only with climate change, recreation, landscape, flora and fauna, wildlife, ecology, the tropics, and the timber trade, but also with biodiversity and sustainability.

As a graduate, you´ll be professional, customer-focused, internationally oriented, creative, and committed - qualities that will serve you for the rest of your life. You´ll be up-to-date on the latest developments, quick to spot opportunities for improvement, and just as quick to implement them.

To help you attain these qualities, we provide challenging, competency-based training that focuses on forestry and nature management and is responsive to broader societal trends. You will be involved in advanced projects, often in the field, and be led by committed instructors. As the programme reflects the latest professional expertise - providing various opportunities for work on projects in professional practice - you´ll develop both your competencies and your knowledge.

Those who take a Bachelor´s degree in Forestry and Nature Management also find themselves in one of the Netherlands´ most beautiful classrooms: the Larenstein Estate. With four thousand plant species, its water gardens and its natural and historical landscape, this is a wonderful environment for practical studies - and also a wonderful place for taking a short break from them.
