The bachelor programme in Analytical Finance prepares you for a challenging career
in the international world of finance. You will see the economy from different
perspective, from accounting in firms to the management of financial portfolios and risk analysis in financial markets.
EDUCATION
This three year bachelor programme has a unique character in terms of content. It has been carefully designed and belongs to the very popular educational area of financial engineering. Focusing on quantitative computer-based methods of financial analysis, the programme provides a good background in mathematics, economics, business administration, and computer science. Analytical Finance is an internationally oriented programme taught entirely in English. Students may take part in the international student exchange programme at Mälardalen University and include in their studies a longer stay at one of our partner universities around the world.
Highly qualified professors, lecturers, and other teachers, from both academia and industry, participate in the programme. It is supported by active research and diverse cooperation programmes with the financial industry.
The focus of the programme is on economic and financial real-life problems, and the textbooks have been chosen to support this approach. Advanced financial software is used in the teaching. The programme has a built-in flexibility and allows students to choose from a selection of subjects during the three years of study. The first and second year offer basic courses in Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics, and Computer Science. During these two years you will get acquainted with the subjects mentioned. In the following year, you are free to choose a specialization applied in Mathematics, Economics, or Business Administration.
You can even obtain two degrees, for example in mathematics and in economics.
FUTURE AND CAREER
As a graduate of Analytical Finance, you will have competitive basic qualifications
for obtaining an attractive position in a bank, stock exchange, investment, insurance or financial software company, government or other financial institution, or manufacturing company. You will also have the possibility to continue your education within the two-year master programme in Financial Engineering offered at Mälardalen University, or continue studying at another university anywhere in the world.

Choices within the program
After two years of studies the students have the following choices:
* take enough courses (30-60 credits) in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics in order to qualify for a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics with Specialization in Financial Engineering;
* take more courses in Economics or Business Administration.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Science mathematics 3 years in higher secondary education and English equivalent to TOEFL (PBT) at least 575, TWE score 4.5, (iBT) at least 90, TWE score 20 or IELTS test score for academic purposes with an overall band score of minimum 6.5 and no band score below 5.5.
