Developing ideas is, in short, what a mechanical engineer does. The mechanical engineer creates ideas, develops and designs new products. This process is a result of a combination of creative skills and engineering skills. Social and economic conditions as well as work-related and environmental conditions are also part of the process.

As a mechanical engineer you will not only get close to the technological developments - you will get knowledge and tools that enable you to influence progress. Notions such as responsibility, professional competence and the ability to assess risks characterise the mechanical engineer. Specialising in "Innovation and Product Design" or "Intelligent Mechanics and Systems" prepares you for engaging in a constantly changing world.

Our bachelor programme in Mechanical Engineering is a 3½-year full-time programme taught in English.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The Mechanical Engineering Programme allows you to use your skills and qualifications in highly development-oriented business environments.

A mechanical engineer background is useful in the private and public sectors alike - in Denmark and abroad. If you want to be an entrepreneur, the programme is also highly relevant. As a Mechanical Engineer, you have a wide range of career choices in companies all over the world such as:

-Design Engineer

-Development Engineer

-Energy Consultant

-Project Manager

-Sales Manager

-Product Manager

PROGRAMME CONTENT AND STRUCTURE

The Mechanical Engineering Programme is professionally oriented and in the course of the programme you will work on projects in close cooperation with companies within the fields of industry, automation, energy, and environment. In Horsens, we have many years of experience in teaching international students in close collaboration with companies.

The flexibility of the programme and the variety of electives give you the opportunity to create your own specialisation.

As a Mechanical Engineering student, you may choose between three areas of specialisation:

o Innovation and Product Design

The ability to be innovative and to convert this into progressive results is the key to the future of any company. You will work with the development of new products, marketing, economy, design, organisation, management and also with the latest technologies in 3D CAD design, modelling and prototyping.

o Intelligent Mechanics and Systems

Self-propelled mine searchers and driverless combines, new wheelchairs and new navigation systems for cars. Developing intelligent products and systems is about integration between software, hardware, system development and machine techniques. You will work with the latest technologies, robots, satellite communication, etc.

o Sustainable Energy

Development of the future sustainable energy systems is about energy from the sun, the wind and the CO² neutral fuels like straw and wood. You will work with basic energy technique, energy saving, design of energy systems, and renewable technologies as wind turbines, solar heat, solar power, biomass, heat pump and storage of energy, etc.
