Why Economics ?

At the Economics programme, learning is not passive. It is interactive, creative, demanding, stimulating and challenging. It is rooted in theory, but always connected to what is going on in the real world, in the global economy.

You will learn by lectures, tutorials, case studies, group assignments, and classroom debates. Discussions are made that much more enlightening by the fact that your classmates come from all over the world.

A focus on group work prepares you for the reality of a working environment. In diverse teams, you work on assignments and prepare presentations, always applying what you have learnt to the task at hand, just as you will, during your career. Class sizes are kept small, so you will never be just another face at the back of the lecture hall.

The programme is divided in a two-year foundation phase consisting of twenty mandatory courses, and a one-year specialisation phase organised around a variety of free electives and programme electives. Assessment schemes take into account written exam results as well as your performance and participation in class.

Tilburg University has set up exchange programmes with other top economics departments around the world. You will spend an unforgettable semester abroad at another top university, immersed in a different culture, way of life, language, and of course, economic environment.
