Laurea LeppävaaraThe Degree Programme in Security Management produces competencies improving security, safety, innovative security solutions and new services. Utilising diverse development methods are central areas throughout the degree. The aim is to provide students with high integrity and the ability to develop innovative security solutions and new services for both private and public sector.
Graduates of the Degree Programme in Security Management have core competences in risk management, business operations, personal safety, information security, security management, and the security of operations, facilities and environment. Security management experts have good general business competence. They can predict the financial aspects of various security risks and determine the financial effects of security measures. Questions related to personal and community security are crucial. Increasingly complex operational chains and logistical networks place new demands on security. Experts in security must be able to anticipate risks and work to minimise the damages through cooperation.

Requirements

People who have one of the following qualifications are eligible to apply:

1) completed Finnish upper secondary education or the Finnish matriculation examination (Act on the Organisation of the Matriculation Examination (672 / 2005)
2) International Baccalaureate, Reifeprüfung or European Baccalaureate examination
3) a Finnish vocational college diploma or higher vocational diploma (e.g. in engineering)
4) a Finnish vocational qualification of at least three years duration, completed in vocational upper secondary education and training, referred to in the Vocational Education and Training Act (630/98), or an earlier corresponding qualification
5) combined education programmes of at least three years duration, referred to in the Act on Youth-level Education and the Polytechnic Experiment (391/91)
6) a Finnish vocational qualification in adult education of at least three years duration, referred to in the Vocational Adult Education Act (631/98)
7) a foreign (non-Finnish) upper-secondary certificate which gives eligibility for higher education (Bachelor's level Degree) in the awarding country. Non-EU/EEA citizens applying with a foreign upper secondary certificate must have graduated before the end of the application period. Applicants who are citizens of an EU/EEA-country and are completing their upper-secondary school in the spring 2011 are eligible to apply.

An applicant who is a non-EU/EEA-citizen and applying with a foreign (non-Finnish) qualification is also required to provide proof of his/her language skills by 25 February 2011 16:15.
