Location of University of Greenwich

The broad-based first year of this programme encompasses a solid engineering foundation that covers both principles and practice. In the second year, this broad theme continues alongside specialist courses that explore technical aspects of public health engineering, as well as issues of environment, sustainability and health and the underpinning legislation. For instance, the Water Supply and Distribution course in year 2 covers applications such as fire-safety systems and sanitary installations. Waste Water and Drainage includes drainage systems above and below ground, as well as specialist applications such as rainwater systems.

An optional sandwich year is available at the end of the year 2.

In the final year, Applications of Public Health Engineering covers a selection of public health engineering systems. Among the subjects investigated are the safe design and operation of swimming pools and water recycling. Both the individual project and the group design project focus on real public health systems in industry. The efficient use of resources, sustainability and environmental impact are also key elements in this programme.
