This programme appeals to those with lively minds who love literature. Students reading English at Greenwich are introduced to a wide range of challenging texts and to some of the key concepts and approaches shaping their study. English is interpreted broadly to include drama and visual narrative as well as fiction and poetry.
Several of the courses incorporate visual art, film and theatre alongside traditional literary sources and we encourage students to engage with the historical, social and cultural context that has shaped the texts we read. Full advantage is taken of our culturally and historically rich location and proximity to central London. Visits to theatres, art galleries and museums are integral to many of our courses.
Aims of the programme
* To encourage students to think critically about the nature of English study in relation to their own intellectual and professional interests
