Location of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is one of the two technical universities in Lithuania and only one technical university in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. Vilnius Gediminas Technical University was established in 1956 as Vilnius Department of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute.

In 1969 it was reorganised into Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute, acquired the status and title of Vilnius Technical University in 1990, and was renamed to Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in 1997. The name of Gediminas was given to the University in honour of the Great Duke of Lithuania Gediminas, who is considered to be the founder of Vilnius (in 1323).

If you are eager to gain experience in architecture, engineering and technology or management while studying in Lithuania, each faculty of VGTU offers at least one study programme in English, choose the suitable subject and join us! We will do our best for you!

This programme is taught in English and lead to the Bachelor's Degree in four years. The studies are carried out according to the study programmes that are arranged and approved at the University. Study committees certify study modules and arrange study programmes.

In order to help future Bachelor's students to develop basic skills necessary to successfully pursue engineerign studies, Pre-engineering courses are arranged.

A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering can design mechanisms and machines of different purposes, can warrant their proper exploitation, can evaluate quality parameters of machines, has knowledge and skills necessary for engineer's activity, is able effectively to collaborate with specialists of other branches and users, is able to keep professional competence during all life long learning.

Requirements

Admission Requirements for BSc programmes

  • · Secondary School Graduation Certificate with good results, particularly in mathematics, physics, and English. Applications must be accompanied by legalized English translations of all transcripts. Unofficial copies are not accepted.
  • · English language proficiency. No entrance examinations for foreigners are needed.

Applications can not be processed unless they include all the following:

  • Completed application form;
  • Certificate of Education (Secondary/ Undergraduate degree, etc) including Grades;
  • Curriculum Vitae;
  • English profficiency certificate;
  • Medical Certificate (including AIDS test);
  • 4 Passport Photos;
  • A Copy of Passport;
  • Cheque of Application Fee of 100 EUR (non-refundable);
  • Certificate from a foreign bank and notarized letter of guarantee from parents/sponsors along with a document about their financial abilities (present to Lithuania Embassy).

Note: Legalized and notarized English translation are required for all Education documents.
