Location of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is one of the two technical universities in Lithuania and only one technical university in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. Vilnius Gediminas Technical University was established in 1956 as Vilnius Department of Kaunas Polytechnic Institute.

In 1969 it was reorganised into Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute, acquired the status and title of Vilnius Technical University in 1990, and was renamed to Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in 1997. The name of Gediminas was given to the University in honour of the Great Duke of Lithuania Gediminas, who is considered to be the founder of Vilnius (in 1323).

If you are eager to gain experience in architecture, engineering and technology or management while studying in Lithuania, each faculty of VGTU offers at least one study programme in English, choose the suitable subject and join us! We will do our best for you!

This programme is taught in English and lead to the Bachelor's Degree in four years. The studies are carried out according to the study programmes that are arranged and approved at the University. Study committees certify study modules and arrange study programmes.

In order to help future Bachelor's students to develop basic skills necessary to successfully pursue engineerign studies, Pre-engineering courses are arranged.

The graduate is capable of analyzing the problem of design and building construction, obtaining and applying modern information for the construction design and applying technical and technological methods for decision making. A BSc degree holder is ready to follow the European and Lithuanian legal regulations and standard documents, able to manage construction design and supervision processes and successfully to cooperate with specialists in neighboring areas.
