For combinations that include a language, a minimum of a GCSE at grade C may be required in that language.
Entry Requirements - Degree Programmes
For degree programmes we ask for at least 160 UCAS points. These can be made up from the following:
* a maximum of 60 points may be obtained from AS-levels or ASVCEs alone; at least 100 points should be obtained from A-levels or AVCEs (formerly AGNVQs;
* or at least 12 A-level points, if taken before 2002;
* or an Advanced GNVQ with a minimum Merit profile (if taken before 2002);
* or a BTEC National Diploma at MPP
* or an International Baccalaureate, with at least 24 points
In addition, we normally require at least three GCSEs at grade C or above (including English and mathematics) or equivalent, for example, a Key Skills qualification.
Language skills
If English is not your first language, you will need to provide proof of your fluency in English before you can begin a programme. The main systems for measuring this are IELTS with a minimum score of 6.0 for degree programmes or TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 for degree programmes. Recently the TOEFL computer-based test has been abolished to make way for the introduction of the Internet-based test, gradually eliminating the traditional paper-based method. Other qualifications may be satisfactory. We can tell you what is acceptable.
