An English-language new media art degree - Only at Prague College!

  • Earn an internationally recognized British Bachelors degree in Fine Art
  • Become a multimedia practitioner and artist
  • Work directly with renowned artists and specialists
  • All in cooperation with Teesside University — British University of the Year (Times Higher Education, 2009)

This exciting and unique programme is an opportunity not only to master a wide range of tools in digital media — including advanced animation techniques, digital video, web and sound production — but to take a step further into artistic multimedia experimentation. You explore electronic, digital, photographic and film media in a specialist fine art learning environment while developing a personal discipline area of choice. The programme offers open access to an ongoing series of studio and laboratory-based workshops with specialists, artists and multimedia professionals.

Career Opportunities

In the first two years you learn the foundation technical and production skills that create opportunities for employment in a wide range of industries, in particular multimedia and film production studios, TV and radio, online media agencies, advertising agencies, newspapers, web design agencies and nearly any industry connected to the new and multimedia.

The final year of the BA programme enhances your credentials and brings deeper creativity and understanding to your portfolio of work. Graduates can move forward into an increasingly broad range of professional post-graduate study in arts and education, and arts-based residencies. With the support of the local and international arts community you may develop an independent art practice, initiate curatorial and gallery-based exhibitions and as self-employed artists become professional cultural practitioners.

How you learn

An academic staff team of specialist practitioners works in partnership with an established programme of visiting artists to ensure you have access to a diverse and extensive range of fine art expertise. You will be in contact with artist-led agencies, have the opportunity to establish a support network for arts practice and undertake study visits directly related to your personal research.

Progress tutorials throughout the programme are designed to help you develop clear and realistic objectives for continued professional development and employment.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

Requirements

Step #1 Consultation and advice

The first step to enrollment at Prague College is to discuss the programmes and study options with a study advisor. Many students schedule appointments at the college or email their ideas and requests to us.

Step #2 Submit application form and supporting documentation

During the introductory discussion, you will get detailed information about the documents required for application to Prague College.

Generally, the application package will consist of: confirmation of completed level of education (High School Diploma, Bachelors degree, etc.), confirmation of English level and letter of motivation.

After all documents are submitted students will be invited for the final interview. This interview is best done in person, but if you are not currently in Prague, then interview can be arranged by phone.

Step #3 Interview

The interview is probably the most important part of the application process.

Since there are no university entrance examinations in the British higher education system, this is the key point where we can decide if you are a suitable candidate for the programme you have chosen.

Of course, in many cases we have already had considerable discussions with you by email and telephone, so you will probably be well-prepared for the formal interview.

Step #4 Acceptance and conditional offers

After the interview, and after you have submitted all documentation required, we will be able to make a decision on whether to offer you a place at Prague College - usually within five to seven working days.

In some cases, we may ask for additional documents or references.

Step # 5 Payments

If you receive an offer from Prague College and decide to accept it, then it is time to reserve your place on the programme. This is done by paying a deposit, or in the case of an international student applying for a visa, a full semester payment. International students are provided documents for the visa application after making this payment, and the visa application process can be started as well.

Step #6 Get ready to start

Proof of English level

Non-native English speakers are required to submit a recent score from an internationally recognized English examination. These may include, but are not limited to the following examinations:

  • IELTS
  • ELSA (which can be done at Prague College)
  • TOEFL

The ELSA test was developed by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a reliable and consistent test of English language skills proficiency.
ELSA is available in British or American English and evaluates ‘real life’ English as used in the workplace, when travelling, socialising or studying.
ELSA can be taken by anyone at any time and can be taken independently of a course of study.

English language

  • Level Five Advanced
  • ELSA 340-380
  • TOEFL iBT 50-60
  • IELTS 6.0
