BTEC HND in Health and Social Care

The HND Health and Social Care part of the course is made up of sixteen units. All students take the total of 16 units over the first 2 years to first gain an HND Health and Social Care before proceeding to the final year of the degree course:

8. Health Promotion

Certification

On successful completion of all the examinations, students are awarded the Edexcel (BTEC) HND certificate.

ASIC

OCL has been accredited by the Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC) for independent, further and higher education. ASIC is an independent body whose aim is to improve and enhance standards of independent further and higher education institutions in the United Kingdom by the establishment of a system of accreditation. ASIC has been formed to bring this independent information to the student population through its accreditation service with well defined and objective benchmarking. Accreditation through ASIC helps the students and parents make a more informed choice and also helps a college/university demonstrate to the marketplace that they are a high quality institution. ASIC has been approved by OFSTED on behalf of the UK Border Agency to accredit private colleges for the purpose of sponsorship under the Points Based System.

Edexcel (BTEC)

OCL is accredited by Edexcel (Business Technology Engineering Council). We are an Edexcel approved Course Provider and Examination Centre. Edexcel, a Pearson company, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to more than 25,000 schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning here and in over 100 countries worldwide. They offer an impressive range of services, including curriculum and qualification development. Edexcel offers a wide variety of both vocational and general qualifications in Business, Management, IT and many other areas.

Edexcel has granted the LCAS accreditation to offer programmes in Management Studies (also known as Strategic Management and Leadership).

ICM

OCL is accredited by The Institute of Commercial Management (ICM). We are ICMCourse Provider and Examination Centre. ICM is the leading professional organisation for commercial and business development managers. The Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) has provided support and guidance for lifelong learning in 120 countries over the past 30 years. ICM is recognised by the UK government

The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM)

OCL is accredited by The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM) as a tuition provider. OTHM was founded in 2003 as a professional membership body servicing the tourism and hospitality industry throughout the world.

The aim of OTHM is to support the people who work in the tourism and hospitality industry. In our Mission Statement we state that OTHM:

• aims to act as a forum for the discussion of issues relevant to the industry
• promotes professionalism in the industry
• promotes ethical practice and environmental awareness in the industry.

The long term academic partners of OTHM, The London South Bank University has signed an articulation agreement with OTHM, that recognises OTHM qualifications for entry into their BA (Hons) and Master's Level.The Thames Valley University also accredited OTHM programmes in September 2007 to allow access to their Tourism and Hospitality Degree and Postgraduate programmes.
