This programme prepares you for second-year undergraduate study by improving your level of English, study skills, and knowledge of your chosen degree subject.

Successfully complete this programme and meet the English and academic entry requirements, and you are guaranteed entry to the second year of the following degrees at Norwich Business School:

* Accounting with Management
* International Business Management (Available only at the London Study Centre)

Or the following degrees at the School of Economics

Intensive academic preparation
The Diploma programme is as academically demanding as a traditional university first year course, and aims to prepare you fully for UK university study. You will be given all the support you need to succeed including group work, personal tutorials, and language and study skills tuition.

Study Skills
Essential preparation for university life, Study Skills provides you with a grounding in group work, presentations, note taking, essay design and planning, and methods of self evaluation.

English language support
Together with Study Skills, English Language is a core subject on the Diploma programme, covering reading, writing, listening and speaking. The module ensures that students reach the entry requirement for the second year of a degree course.

The intensive language support enables you to commence your university-level study before you have formally met the stipulated entrance requirements for undergraduate programmes at the University. This, combined with flexible start dates, helps you avoid delays or unnecessary extensions to your studies.

Flexible start dates
The Diploma is a three-term programme comprising around nine months of study. Start dates are in September and January.

A typical Diploma programme week
A typical week will have 20 lessons. Lessons may take the form of lectures, workshops, seminars or directed self-study periods. You will be offered plenty of opportunities to discuss issues informally with your tutors.

You can work in the Learning Resource Centre and the University library. You can also use the network of over a thousand computer terminals for research, including online access to the library and web, around the clock.

Academic counselling
In groups and individually, you will receive professional advice on personal and academic issues, including the next steps in your studies and career.

Assessment
Assessment is a combination of formal examinations and assessed work.

Marks from the Diploma programme do not count towards the final degree but they help the University assess your abilities in your chosen field of study.

You are required to obtain 120 credits to complete the programme successfully. Each content module is worth 20 credits. the module titled Lanaguage and Study Skills must also be compelte satisfactorily.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Requirements

Successful completion of A-levels, a recognised Foundation programme, or the first year of an overseas university degree programme with good grades, or equivalent.

IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in reading and writing) or equivalent. Students who do not meet the minimum English language requirements can apply for English for Undergraduate Study.
