Mechatronics has increasingly changed our everyday lives with products and systems such as integrated ABS and EBS in automobiles, DVD and Blue-Ray Players, mobile communications with UMTS systems and video communications. Mechatronics is an essential catalyst for product innovation and its area of potential is growing more rapidly than ever before.
Only a handful of universities worldwide offer the study of Mechatronics. JKU offers both a Bachelor and Masters degree program in Mechatronics. The curriculum provides students with a broad, diverse, and solid education. Graduates of the Bachelor program are qualified to pursue a professional career or continue their education to pursue a Masters degree in mechatronics. Due to intensive collaboration with industry and research institutions in Austria and abroad, the study of Mechatronics in Linz has become an active, dynamic, and practice oriented area of study.
Potential Career OpportunitiesPotential career opportunities for graduates of Mechatronics include areas of mechanical engineering, electronic engineering and informatics. Mechatronic graduates are the “decathletes” among engineers. Graduates can pursue careers as product developers, programmers, sales engineers, CAD engineers, research engineers, operation engineers, measuring and control engineers and restoration engineers and develop, for example, modern hydraulic, roller mill equipment and engineered robots.
