Examines the interrelationships between science, culture, and politics in Western society. Four specialisations are available. It is a three-year programme available in English or Dutch.

The bachelor's programme in Arts and Culture examines the interrelationships between science, culture, and politics in Western society. The programme is divided into two phases of a year and a half each. The first phase, which is the same for all Arts and Culture students, consists of a series of six, chronological modules. You will learn about the origins and development of Western thought until present day. The curriculum is linked to contemporary society so that today's problems can be understood in a historical context. During the second phase of the programme you will pick one of four specialisations: * Cultures of Knowledge and Technology ± examines the effect of science and technology on our society and culture * Literature, Arts and Culture ± examines how art, literature and culture reflect on a series of key themes of modern society * Political Culture ± examines problems of democracy, human rights, political fundamentalism and totalitarianism * Media Culture ± examines the evolution of New Media and its impact on society Arts and Culture is a three-year programme and has two tracks, one taught in English and the other taught in Dutch.
