Location of Glasgow Caledonian University

It covers Urban Studies; Urban Planning; Economics; Legislation; Construction and Property Contracts; and Property Development in Years 1 and 2 and requires a year-long professional placement in Year 3 that can be carried out either in the UK or abroad.

There are opportunities to study in other European countries under the Erasmus Programme and as far afield as Australia and Canada as part of the Overseas Exchange Programme.

The Honours year provides deeper knowledge and understanding including in Advanced Valuation, Corporate Property Management and Urban Generation.

The University has strong links with both industry and academic partners in the UK and abroad and uses these to arrange study tours and provide case study materials. The course is accredited by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Graduates in Property Management and Valuation will typically be able to work with a variety of other professionals and to tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.

They take a mature and responsible approach to both their studies and work and therefore make ideal candidates for industry. Graduates have found employment in multinational organisations and private practices worldwide, as well as in a wide range of public sector organisations.

The international businessman and GCU graduate, Khalid Abdul Rahim, has provided scholarships to enable selected built and natural environment sudents to undertake study tours, internships and cultural elements related to the Middle East.


Contents

Year 1: Students are provided with a foundation in Construction Technology, Property Economics, Urban Studies, Professional Practice, Valuation (Intro) and Construction Contracts.

Year 2: A c ontinuation of the core skills learn in Year 1 with additional study including Advanced Construction Technology, Property Development, Valuation, Construction and Property, Property Contracts Management and Urban Planning.

Year 3: Students complete a year-long professional placement which may count towards professional qualification.
Year 4: Students complete an Honours dissertation. Further studies include Advanced Valuation, Corporate Property Management, Facilities Management, Urban Regeneration and Negotiation Skills.

Work placement: A year-long work placement is an essential part of the course. completed in Year 3. Students have the option to carry out their placement either in the UK or abroad.

Exchange: Study exchange opportunities exist with partner institutions overseas.

Assessment: Various assessment methods are used, including written course work, unseen examinations and time-constrained tests.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.

Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.

275 UCAS points from Higher Grades C or above or A Levels at D or above.
