Access to HE Diplomas are designed to prepare mature (18 years or older) learners for Higher Education (HE). The Access to HE Diploma in Engineering for International Students programme has been specifically designed for international learners. As well as providing a broad base for Engineering Studies, it includes significant tutorial and language support. A supportive learning environment is provided by using a variety of methods, including lectures, seminars (student-centred discussion), tutorials, group work, practical workshops and private study, all based on a weekly timetable. The opportunity to study for the IELTS test is an integral part of the course.

- Mechanical engineering
- Electrical engineering
- Civil engineering
- Computer aided design
- Mathematics
All units are assessed and graded. A variety of assessment methods are employed, including essays, case studies, presentations and examinations where appropriate.
Students can progress onto university courses and careers in: manufacturing engineering, automobile engineering, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, civil engineering, and various degrees in applied sciences. The department has excellent contacts with all the local Universities including the University of Manchester, the University of Salford and Manchester Metropolitan University.
The opportunity to study for the IELTS test is an integral part of the course.

You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testApplicants must have satisfactory secondary education qualifications. As an International student, you must be aware that an IELTS score of 5.0 is required prior to the start of the course; this also meets the UK Border Agency requirement for visa purposes. All students undertake an initial diagnostic to identify support needs.

This programme enables the learner to obtain an Access to HE Diploma, which is a credit based, graded qualification. In the UK, Access Diplomas are nationally accepted as an alternative to A Levels for entry to Higher Education and are recognised by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education. In addition to this you will have the opportunity to improve your IELTS score.
