The degree programme "German Studies" is made up of the subsections (German) Literature, Language Studies and Media/Cultural Studies. Courses in traditional mediaevil studies (studies in the literature and language of the middle ages) are integrated within the respective subsections of the programme. The Bachelor programme has a special focus on the intercultural dimensions of German Studies. In all the aforementioned subsections, for instance, a very special emphasis is placed on the aspects arising from contact with the respective non-German pendant (literature, language, culture, persons). This encompasses an elective speciality in the field of German as a second language.

Subsequent non-teaching occupational fields

The programme enables students to choose between different specialisations depending on their career orientation: journalism, editorship, the media, proof reading, advertising, culture management, dramaturgy/direction, and librarianship, among others.

Possibilities for additional qualifications

The graduation/final degree enables/ qualifies you to take on scientific master studies in the courses of study: M.A. Germanistik
(ggf. auch M.A. Transnationale Literaturwissenschaft sowie M.A. Language Sciences).
