You will learn about:
Apart from the compulsory subjects you must choose one of the three specialisations at the Service, Hospitality & Tourism Management programme:
During your studies you will have several opportunities to go abroad. You can go abroad for a semester and your study placement or internship may also take place anywhere in the world. In other words, you take part in shaping your education the way you want it.
With an AP Degree in Service, Hospitality & Tourism Management you will be able to work on all levels in an organisation.
You will be able to combine knowledge of business, cultural and innovative factors and principles of sustainable development with methodological considerations on planning and organising services.
You will also be able to take part in managerial and collaborative matters and be able to engage in customer relationships with people of different educational, linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
The programme comprises a compulsory part and an elective part. The elective part consists of a specialisation and an examination project. The compulsory part makes up 90 ECTS points and the elective part makes up 30 ECTS points.
Subjects and modules are interwoven so that the students learn to apply all their skills and competences on a complex set of problems and not only on isolated single subject problems.
Incoming students therefore have to follow all activities of a semester, meaning they have to follow all 30 ECTS of one semester - students cannot be exempt from single subjects or mix subjects from different courses and different semesters.
On the first semester you will focus on learning to learn and on the following semesters students are expected to show a higher degree of independence while lecturers will take on a supervisory role.
On the third semester you will go away on a full-time 13-week internship from 1 July to 31 October including summer holidays. The internship may take place in one or more companies in Denmark or abroad. On the fourth semester you will complete the programme by writing your final exam project based on an applied issue from your internship.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test if you come from a non-English speaking country.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
More informationAll applicants should normally as a minimum have an upper secondary school leaving exam preferably in a subject relevant for the programme they are applying for. For some countries outside EU applicants also need 1-2 years of college or university studies.
In general students need to have good marks and on some programmes there are specific requirements for their marks in e.g. mathematics. Applicants must have the exams deemed relevant by the Danish Agency for International Education under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Please note that all programmes require a command of English sufficient for academic purposes, namely:
Certification must be attached, or your application will not be taken into consideration.
If you wish UCN to consider an alternative English level, you may apply to the International Office for approval. However, for applicants from outside Europe we only accept the IELTS or TOEFL English test.
Applications must be made on the standard KOT form. Applications for admission with the copies of all relevant qualifications attached should be submitted as early as possible.
