Practice-based education
On the IT Network & Electronics Technology programme, theory and practice are linked through project work in a contemporary lab environment. The lab environment contains a prototype workshop, measuring instruments, components and other material for prototype construction, development kits (microcontrollers, FPGA, DSP), patch panel with experimental networks and network components, server park etc.
For programming purposes, you will need a PC of your own. You will find a description of requirements on the list of books and materials mandatory for joining the programme. We will supply free software during your studies. Among others, we have made agreements with Microsoft Academic Aliance, OrCad and Mathcad.
Instruction and work forms
Tuition on the IT Network & Electronics Technology programme is based on UCN T & B’s learning approach which in turn is based on PULSE-thinking about “The Whole Person” where the learning outcome is described in three dimensions being:
Head: “Knowledge, reflection and the ability to generate ideas”
Heart: “Personal insight and development, relations and co-operation”
Legs: “Initiative and responsibility”
On the IT Network & Electronics Technology programme we use a wide range of teaching methods that collectively support the three above-mentioned dimensions and help achieving the learning goals described in the curriculum.
The main teaching methods are dialogue-based class instruction and group project work. Our students also profit from study groups, independent study, individual assignments and projects, presentations for small groups and whole classes, interdisciplinary theme studies and many other study forms.
We always try to set (or help set) clear goals for all learning activities.
Activities
Furthermore, we offer the different activities that may help promote individual learning: Extra programming, homework help and individual guidance and coaching. In class, we focus on the working processes used within the field to support the development of professional skills and competencies.
You are normally required to take an English Proficiency Test.
Most European Universities recognise the IELTS test.
Take testAll applicants should normally as a minimum have an upper secondary school leaving exam preferably in a subject relevant for the programme they are applying for. For some countries outside EU applicants also need 1-2 years of college or university studies.
In general students need to have good marks and on some programmes there are specific requirements for their marks in e.g. mathematics. Applicants must have the exams deemed relevant by the Danish Agency for International Education under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
English Level
Please note that all programmes require a command of English sufficient for academic purposes, namely:
* IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.0 or e.g.
* Cambridge Advance level C
* Cambridge Proficiency level C
* Oxford Placement - 140 (minimum 70 in the grammar part)
* TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a minimum score of 213 if computer-based, 80 if internet-based or 550 if paper-based
Certification must be attached, or your application will not be taken into consideration.
If you wish UCN to consider an alternative English level, you may apply to the International Office for approval. However, for applicants from outside Europe we only accept the IELTS or TOEFL English test.
Applications must be made on the standard KOT form. Applications for admission with the copies of all relevant qualifications attached should be submitted as early as possible.
